Welcome. I’m Joel, a licensed mortgage broker with over 20 years of experience in the mortgage world, including underwriting, originating, and teaching. I work across both the residential and commercial space, and I know this industry inside and out.
The Mortgage Guide exists for one reason: to make a complicated industry understandable. Mortgages are technical, full of jargon, and often explained poorly. My approach is simple. Education first, transparency always, and guidance that actually makes sense for real life.
Beyond my work with clients, I also create content on YouTube through The Mortgage Guide and The Mortgage Guide Philosophy Series. On the channel, I break down mortgage education in plain language, whether that’s my daily One Minute Mortgage News updates, investment property strategies, or simple explanations of concepts that feel overwhelming if you’re not in the industry. I also explore philosophy and decision making, because how we think directly affects the choices we make with money and life.
The Philosophy Series helps keep me grounded. It sharpens how I guide clients and, just as importantly, helps me show up as a better father.
